I began engraving glass nearly 50 years ago, at a time when decorative glass carving was truly a hands-on art form. Some of my earliest and most important training came through Carve Glass by Schepps in New York, where I learned techniques that would become the foundation of a lifelong career.

From there, my work brought me into New York City and the D&D Building, where I had the opportunity to work in the world of high-end decorative design and architectural glass. Over the years, my work connected me with 200 Lex, exclusive designers and showrooms, and some of the most recognizable names in New York, including Tiffany & Co., Bergdorf Goodman, Louis Pibar, Maurice Valence, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, as well as the Philadelphia Museum and many others.

Those experiences taught me something that has stayed with me throughout my career: engraving glass isn't simply about putting a design on a surface. It's about understanding the glass—how deeply it can be carved, how light travels through it, how texture creates dimension, and how a design can transform an ordinary piece of glass into something completely unique.

As the years went by, I continued honing my craft and developing my own techniques. My work became known for deep sand carving, detail, dimension, and craftsmanship—work that you can actually feel when you run your fingers across the glass. Long before today's computerized and laser engraving became commonplace, this was a craft learned through experience, patience, experimentation, and thousands upon thousands of pieces of glass.

I moved to Connecticut 48 years ago and brought that experience with me. Since then, my engraving can be found throughout Connecticut and the surrounding area. I've worked on everything from restaurants and diners to architectural glass, doors, mirrors, awards, corporate pieces, memorials, wedding pieces, bottles, stemware, and one-of-a-kind commissions.

Chances are, if you've lived or worked in this area for a while, you've probably seen something I've engraved without ever knowing who created it.

Today, almost half a century after I first began, I'm still doing what I have always done: taking an idea, a photograph, a logo, a drawing—or sometimes nothing more than a customer's description/
